Farewell Ceremony for Lei Jun-CA's Sponsorship of 30 Angolan Students to Study in China Takes Place Successfully in Luanda in Celebration of Friendship with Angola

On August 24, 2014, the capital of Angola, Luanda, was abuzz with excitement. A grand farewell ceremony took place at the TALATONA hotel to send off 30 young Angolans who were sponsored by Lei Jun-CA Construction, Limited under China Hyway Group Limited to study in China. Over 150 people attended the event, including Angolan government officials, Ambassador Gao Kexiang from the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Republic of Angola, Xia Xiaoling from the Commercial Office, and friends and family members of the students. The event was hosted by Secretary Guo Xin from the Commercial Office and Zhang Chunming. This overseas studying program was jointly initiated by the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Republic of Angola and Lei Jun-CA Construction, Limited, with full funding provided by China Hyway.

Mr. Wei Ruihai, General Manager of Lei Jun-CA Construction, Limited, stated that since the company entered Angola in 2007, it had adhered to the operational philosophy of "progressing and developing together with the Angolan people". The company had actively participated in Angola's rapid development and construction efforts, integrated itself into the local community, and fulfilled its social responsibilities, receiving high praise from relevant Angolan government departments and the local society. While developing its business, the company was committed to making greater contributions to the Angolan government and its people. To further promote educational and cultural exchanges between China and Angola and deepen communication and understanding among the youth of both countries, the company responded to the Chinese government's call to support education in Africa. With the support of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Republic of Angola, it initiated a talent cultivation program together with the Angolan Ministry of Transport. This program aimed to fulfill social responsibilities by sponsoring 30 Angolan youths to study at Jimei University in Xiamen, China, a key university in China's university construction, majoring in Computer Science and International Trade. Jimei University also specifically arranged Portuguese language courses and provided life counselors for the students, along with inviting experienced professors to give lectures.

In his speech, Ambassador Gao Kexiang from China to Angola stated that the significance of this event was profound, and it served as an important testament to the friendship between China and Angola. He also expressed his hope that China-funded enterprises, while contributing to Angola's construction, could also provide more assistance in areas such as education, healthcare, and the well-being of the people, to facilitate Angola's construction of great power and fulfill social responsibilities. He believed that China-funded enterprises would experience continuous development in Angola, helping to build a better Angola and benefit the Angolan people.

Delfina Marques da Cruz, a representative of the international students, spoke on their behalf, stating their commitment to cherishing this hard-earned opportunity, studying diligently, and returning to Angola soon to give back to their country.

After dinner, the students boarded a bus to the Luanda International Airport, where they would fly to Jimei University in Xiamen, China that evening to attend the university's opening ceremony.
