China-Angola Cooperation

Forum on China-Angola Cooperation

From September 4 to 6, the 2024 Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, themed "Joining Hands to Advance Modernization and Build a High-level China-Africa Community with a Shared Future", will be held in Beijing. China and Africa will come together to reaffirm friendship, discuss cooperation, and plan for the future.

In the year 2000, with the advent of a new era, China and African nations, guided by the principles of peaceful development and win-win cooperation, initiated the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, with Angola actively participating as a member country. Over the past 24 years, the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) has evolved into a crucial platform for collective dialogue and an effective mechanism for practical cooperation between China and Africa. Within the framework of FOCAC, the cooperation between China and Angola in various fields has continued to strengthen and expand, yielding fruitful results. Let's now delve into some of these collaborative projects.

The Moçâmedes Railway restoration project is being carried out by China Hyway Group Limited. The Group has been present in the Angolan market for nearly 20 years, establishing the Lei Jun-CA Construction, Limited, specializing in infrastructure development projects. Additionally, the Company serves as the contractor for the railway branch line to the new Luanda International Airport and its five integrated hub stations.

Since the end of the Angolan Civil War in 2002, Chinese enterprises have actively participated in the national reconstruction efforts of Angola, restoring and rebuilding a total of 2,800 kilometers of railways.
