At 4:00 p.m. on December 5, 2024 (local time in Angola), Énio Renato de Magalhães Costa, Chairman of the National Land Transport Management Committee of Angola (the project owner), Charber Andari, General Manager of DAR Supervision Company, and Wei Ruihai, Vice President of the Group Company, officially signed the completion document of Luanda New Airport Railway Branch Line Project in the conference room of Ministry of Transport of Angola. The event was attended by over 30 individuals, including officials from the Ministry of Transport of Angola, leaders from DAR Supervision Company, Zhu Xisong, Executive Deputy General Manager of the First Business Unit of the Group Company, as well as Guo Xiaomin and Lin Jianhua, Deputy General Managers, alongside local media representatives. The signing of the handover documents marked a pivotal moment, officially transitioning the project from the construction phase to operational status.

Trains Running on the Railway Branch Line to the New Luanda Airport

On November 10, 2023, the New Luanda Airport—officially named Dr. António Agostinho Neto International Airport—along with its supporting railway branch line, commenced traffic and freight operations. Spanning a total length of 15.28 km, the railway line met acceptance and delivery standards after one year of operation. On November 7, 2024, the new airport began domestic passenger flight service, and the railway branch trains operate every day, with a running time of 60 minutes per trip. Service hours are from 4:00 AM to 10:00 PM. This railway branch line primarily serves residents in the surrounding areas, including Bungo, Musseques, Viana, and Baia stations, as well as the Airport Station. With a maximum capacity of about 8,000 passengers per day and 700 passengers per train, this new service significantly enhances accessibility between Luanda and the new airport while also providing convenient connections for suburban trains in other regions.
