China Hyway Invited to Attend Reception for International Students from Angola & Awarding Ceremony of Chinese Ambassador Scholarship

On June 19, 2024 (local time), the Reception for International Students from Angola & Awarding Ceremony of the Chinese Ambassador Scholarship took place with fanfare at the InterContinental Hotels Luanda Miramar. The event was hosted by the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Republic of Angola, with Ambassador Zhang Bin attending and delivering a speech. Over 200 people participated in the event, including relevant officials from the government of Angola, representatives of higher education institutions, educational organizations, and Angolan students in China, and those of China-invested enterprises in Angola, groups of expats, chambers of commerce, and various sectors of society. Lin Jianhua, Deputy General Manager of Lei Jun-CA Construction, Limited was also invited to attend.

In his speech, Ambassador Zhang Bin stated that for decades, the Chinese government, along with China-invested enterprises and institutions in Angola, had actively funded Angolan youth to study in China and provided them with communication platforms for skill development. He emphasized that those who had studied in China not only contributed to the construction and development of Angola upon their return to Angola but also played a significant role in deepening the friendship between China and Angola and fostering mutual understanding between the peoples.

The representative of the Angolan students studying in China, Hedison, shared his 12 years of study experience in China. He expressed gratitude for the learning opportunities provided by the Chinese government, stating that he gained much beyond academic knowledge, including lessons on character and conduct. He noted the hardworking, humble, kind, and brave nature of the Chinese people and pledged to build a bridge of friendship to promote cooperation between China and Angola.

At the reception, Zhang Bin presented the Chinese Ambassador Scholarship to over 30 student representatives. The students performed Chinese songs on-site and shared their experiences and feelings about studying in China.
